Castle Fraser (last day in Scotland)

Castle Fraser is a huge castle.  Originally known as Muchall-in-Mar, construction of the elaborate, 5-story castle was begun in 1575 by the 6th Laird of Fraser, Michael Fraser.  It was completed in 1636.  The castle was modernized in a classical style in the late 18th century.  A few reconstructions happened changing the castle a little with each one.  In 1921, the Pearson family bought it.  They restored the castle as a shooting lodge and, in 1976, gave it to the National Trust for Scotland.

The gardens there were beautiful!
